Manessis Estate
The Manessis Estate, where the Festival is held every summer, is a place of significant importance and considerable beauty. It presents a landmark for the wider area of Porto Heli and Ermionida, as the landscape itself was notably altered since the time of its acquisition by the Manessis family at the beginning of the 20th century.
When Constantine Manessis, the father of Yorgos Manessis, acquired the land, the area was sparsely populated, the territory was coarse and dry, with hardly any greenery around for miles. Due to the owner’s passion for nature, his persistence, hard work and vigorous planting of trees and foliage, the estate was transformed into the wonderful oasis we still enjoy today!
It was in that environment that Yorgos Manessis had the fortune of growing up, and it was that precise environment that endowed him with the endless love for Nature and its wonders and inspired his artistic and musical development.
We sincerely hope that some of the ‘magic’ of the place will transfer to us, the performers and the audiences alike, during our experience there!
