The Guitar Duet in 19th Century Chamber Music (Repertoire & Performance Practices) Dimitris Tsoutsikas

Young students of wind and string instruments will attend chamber music lessons and receive theoretical guidance from guitarist and soloist Dimitris Tsoutsikas. The focus will be on 19th-century guitar repertoire in duet with wind and string instruments. Afterward, they will present these works to the public in the Young Artists Concerts I and II, which will take place on August 4th and 6th, respectively.

More than half of the classical guitar repertoire from the 19th century consists of music for guitar and other instruments, with a large portion written for two instruments (Duetto).

This seminar–workshop explores that repertoire, focusing specifically on duets for:

  • Woodwinds and guitar (flute, recorder, oboe, clarinet, bassoon)

  • Bowed string instruments and guitar (violin, viola, cello)

  • Piano and guitar

  • Voice and guitar

The workshop is structured in two parts:
a) Theoretical – covering core repertoire, essential performance practices, and historical methods
b) Performance – involving preparation and presentation of selected works
