“Between Moment & Eternity” ANDREAS SPIROPOULOS bassoon ALEXANDROS VLAHOS clarinet GRIGORIOS ZAMPARAS piano in works by L.v. Beethoven, Hurlstone, Douglas, P. di Rivera

A chamber music concert where the clarinet, the bassoon and the piano are all protagonists in a journey from Classism all the way to the more contemporary Jazz and afro-cuban sounds. The program begins with Beethoven’s “Gassenhauer Trio”, a composition brimming with grace and lyricism, inspired by popular tunes of the time. Next, William Hurlstone’s romantic touch at the Trio for Clarinet, bassoon and piano brings forth warm melodies and expressive conundrums. The performers move on to the 20th century with Bill Douglas’ Trio No.2, where classical structure meets jazz sounds and vivid rhythmic beats of contemporary music. The program culminates with Paquito D’ Rivera’s “Afro”, an intense and improvisational composition full of rhythmic outbursts and Latin-American sounds. A multi-dimensional program that brings together distant eras and styles, proving that music is indeed a living dialogue with no frontiers.
