
A Two-day Orchestral Conducting Masterclass – Augoustina Kapoti
August 8 (9:00-11:00) and 9 (10:00-13:00)
Conductor Augustina Kapoti will analyze and present the basic principles of the art of orchestral and choral conducting.
Augustina Kapoti is a London based Conductor who has worked with orchestras and choirs in Boston, Graz, Athens, Birmingham, London and New York, where she was assistant conductor to Jeffrey Milarsky (Columbia University, Juilliard). She has been invited by Simon Halsey CBE to assist with projects at the Royal Albert Hall- BBC Proms, Berlin Philharmonie, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra-Chorus and the London Symphony Chorus.
Ms Kapoti, received a special invitation by Dr Michael Beckerman, Chairman of the Music Department at New York University to give a series of lectures on ‘’Conducting and Performance Practice’’ at New York University.
She works closely with the Presteigne Festival for contemporary orchestral recordings, the Zemel Jewish Choir and the St Albans Choral Society for symphonic choral repertoire.
Augustina was awarded special commendations at the International Orchestral Conducting Competition in Graz and The Conductοrs Institute in New York and her compositions were performed by the ”Da Capo Chamber Players” in NY.
She holds two Master Degrees in Conducting with full scholarship from Bard Conservatory NY and the University of Birmingham UK, and also studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Sian Edwards. Augustina has been invited by personalities such as K.Kiesler, M.Alsop, P.Murphy, J.P.Saraste, J.Schlaefli, to be part of their conducting masterclasses world-wide, under the auspices of organisations such as the Royal Philharmonic Society, the University of St Andrews and she has been actively involved teaching conducting herself.
