SUMMARY:The Guitar Duet in 19th Century Chamber Music (Repertoire & Performance Practices) Dimitris Tsoutsikas
DESCRIPTION:Young students of wind and string instruments will attend chamber music lessons and receive theoretical guidance from guitarist and soloist Dimitris Tsoutsikas. The focus will be on 19th-century guitar repertoire in duet with wind and string instruments. Afterward, they will present these works to the public in the Young Artists Concerts I and II, which will take place on August 4th and 6th, respectively.\nMore than half of the classical guitar repertoire from the 19th century consists of music for guitar and other instruments, with a large portion written for two instruments (Duetto).\nThis seminar–workshop explores that repertoire, focusing specifically on duets for:\n\n\nWoodwinds and guitar (flute, recorder, oboe, clarinet, bassoon)\n\n\nBowed string instruments and guitar (violin, viola, cello)\n\n\nPiano and guitar\n\n\nVoice and guitar\n\n\nThe workshop is structured in two parts:a) Theoretical – covering core repertoire, essential performance practices, and historical methodsb) Performance – involving preparation and presentation of selected works\n \nBiographical Notes\nDimitrios Tsoutsikas studied music performance (Master’s Degree) at the Conservatorium Maastricht -Zuyd University (class C. Marchione), at the Athens Conservatory (class K. Kotsiolis), at Lamia Municipal Conservatory (class F. Violatou, D. Kontogiannis). Mr. Tsoutsikas presents and teaches original music for classical guitar, chamber music, as well as 19th century music with period instrument (copy R. Lacote 1830). He was a student of Yorgos Manessis.\n
